✔ What is an incremental encoder?
According to the different working principles, encoders can be divided into two categories: incremental and absolute. Compared with the absolute encoder, the incremental signal of the incremental encoder does not indicate a specific position, but the changed position information is inversely calculated by two changing pulse signals with a phase shift of 90. Therefore, the incremental encoder subdivides a 360 axial displacement into independent incremental displacements, and a complete rotation of the encoder shaft is represented by an independent special pulse, which is also called zero pulse or Z pulse. The number of incremental subdivisions determines the resolution and position accuracy of the encoder.
